Czech Republic Tour

Czech Republic,  was newly constituted on 1 January,1993 with the dissolution of the 74 year-old federal republic of Czechoslovakia. It is landlocked at the heart of central Europe, bounded by SLOVAKIA, GERMANY, POLAND and AUSTRIA. Natural boundaries are formed by the  Sudden Mountains in the north, the Erzgebirge, or Ore Mountains, to the north-west,and the Bohemian Forest in the south-west. The climate is humid continental with warm summers and cold winters. Most rain falls in summer and thunderstorms are frequent. Agriculture, although accounting for only a small percentage of the national income, is highly developed and efficient. Major crops are sugar beet, wheat and potatoes. Over a third of the labour force is employed in industry which has to import its raw materials and energy. The most important industries are iron and steel, coal, machinery, cement and paper but industrialization has caused serious environmental problems. Recently investment has gone into electronic factories and research establishments. Tourism has increased post - Communism with the country's many resorts, historic cities and winter sports facilities attracting visitors.
