Luxembourg Tour

Luxembourg the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a small independent country bounded by BELGIUM on the west, France on the south and GERMANY on the east. In the north of the Duchy a wooded plateau, the Oesling, rises to 550 m/1804 ft and in the south a lowland area of valleys and ridges is known as the Gutland. Northern winters are cold and raw with snow covering the ground for almost a month, but in the south winters are mild and summers cool. In the south the land is fertile and crops grown include maize, roots, tubers and potatoes with livestock also being raised. It is in the south, also, that beds of iron ore are found and these form the basis of the country’s iron and steel industry. the country is very industrialized with the financial sector playing an increasingly important part in the country’s economy, as is tourism. In the east Luxembourg is bordered by the Moselle river in whose valley wines are produced.
